The Agenda for the ‘Journey of Life’ project

Participants will have to have be affected by removal, or separation from family, carers can also be included where there is the need for helping the participants

The project will comprise of at the very least 6 workshops where a selection of photos of the person taking the ‘journey’ will be bound together in a scrapbook, that at it’s conclusion will probably be exhibited at a local venue

There will also be a number of events associated with the project including at least 3 excursions that will include going to places of cultural interest and having a meal at each of the venues

The journey will consist of taking the participant though their lives, starting with photos of them as a child, if the participants do not have early photos, then the project coordinator will as near as possible, replicate the person as they would have looked as a child or an art teacher will help to paint a retrospective portrait

The book will then take in, photos of any significant persons, events etc, in the ‘travelers’ life this could include weddings, children etc, a short story will accompany the photo page as well as a hand painted/drawn embellishment. It is not necessary to be able to paint as stickers etc can be substituted

An art teacher will be facilitating the workshops to assist participants

Photos will also be taken on the excursions and the ‘traveler’ will be able to write short details etc of the day etc

Original photos will not be used in the album; they will be copied and returned to the owner

And the album at the end of the project will be kept by the ‘traveler’

There will be two groups taking the journey so please feel free to register your interest for the second group

This project is funded by FACHSIA and must be finalized by April 2010

Projected excursions will be

Tobruk Sheep Station includes morning tea and lunch

Muru Mitigar Aboriginal Cultural Centre includes morning tea and lunch

Mount Tomah Botanical Gardens includes lunch and morning tea
